The McDermott Athletic Center, aka The MAC, is a 60,000 square-foot indoor sports facility offering baseball, basketball, volleyball, hockey and fitness facilities to Rio Rancho and the Albuquerque Metro Area.

The MAC is currently in phase 1 of its opening plan. This will be a gradual process so please read the guidelines carefully so you can be properly prepared to use the MAC safely.

All visitors to the MAC will be required to abide by the following temporary policies:
​

Get a temperature reading at the door from a non-contact thermometer. Any person with a temperature exceeding 100.3 degrees will not be permitted to enter the facility.

Sign in at the front desk in the event health officials need contact tracing information.
--The signature provided for contact tracing is also your signature for the waiver agreement that is placed by the sign in sheet at the front desk--

Wear a mask at all times when in the facility

Sanitize hands when entering the facility

Only bring disposable water bottles to the facility. Reusable containers will not be permitted.
The MAC recommends all visitors to do the following:

Leave cellphones in the car and/or do not use them when in the facility. Cell phones are a known carrier of germs and are in contact with your face throughout the day.

Bring a disposable water bottle or be prepared to purchase one (water fountains will not be available).
-
Do not come to the facility if you feel ill in any way. Fevers are only one possible symptom.
-
If you have a compromised immune system consult with your physician before participating in any events held at the MAC.

Bring your own equipment. Do not share equipment.
Steps we are taking:
During our initial phase of opening we will strictly enforce the following:

All employees will wear masks.
-
All visitors will receive temperature checks.
-
We will not exceed 25% capacity.
-
Hand sanitizing stations have been installed throughout the facility.
-
There will be no walk-in clients for the immediate future.
-
Team practices, clinics, and individual/group instruction only.
-
We will constantly be cleaning the facility and high traffic areas.

Due to the governor’s new orders the MAC will be requiring all spectators and participants to wear masks at all times. Anyone participant that feels a shortness of breath, faint, is having trouble breathing, or feels the mask is compromising their health in any way will be permitted to remove the mask.

*Any patrons with medical conditions that exempt them from wearing masks will still be permitted to enter the facility.

MAC ELITE TRYOUTS
MAC Elite Baseball will be holding tryouts for graduating classes of 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 for the 2021 summer and fall showcase season on Saturday, January 23rd at the ABQ Sports Complex.

We have partnered with i9 Sports to bring you 3 exciting new programs this Winter season: Basketball, Volleyball, and Indoor Soccer! Secure your spot now, and to register at the lowest rates. Buddy, coach, and team requests are accepted.

LIL' KICKERS
Lil' Kickers is hosting classes on Fridays and Sundays and seasons run for 13 weeks. You can sign up at any time, classes will be pro-rated.

IRISH DANCE CLASSES
We currently have Irish Dance classes being held in our location inside the McDermott Athletic Center in Rio Rancho, NM. You are invited to stop by and or contact us about a free trial class.
OUR FACILITIES

BASEBALL & SOFTBALL
The MAC provides a 10,000 square-foot indoor baseball/softball facility with six hitting tunnels.
​
Each hitting tunnel is set up with an L-screen for live batting practice and turf mound for bullpens. A softball pitching machine is also be available upon request.

BASKETBALL
The MAC provides a 12,000 square foot indoor basketball facility with six baskets and two regulation high school courts.
The playing surface is a seamless, durable, and highly shock absorbent poured urethane floor that reduces the risk of injury to athletes playing on the surface. It is the best alternative to hardwood floors on the market.

ICE & HOCKEY
The MAC offers the perfect environment for high-altitude training with our year-round indoor ice arena. The rink is a standard NHL-sized (85’ x 200’) sheet of ice with rounded corners. Our facility is equipped with an on-ice jump harness, stadium seating along one side of the arena, and four full-sized locker rooms.
